Bleak House

Bleak House

Bleak house,

‘Neath a domed bleak sky,

Bleak house,

Where life does come to die.

Bleak house,

Table set for ten,

Bleak house,

Then nine, when set again.

Bleak house,

Its gramophone wheels yet makes no sound,

Bleak house,

Clothes strewn limp across the ground.

Bleak house,

With views etched by blackened quill,

Bleak house,

Beyond its rotten window sills.

Bleak house,

Though dawn might wash across the hills,

Bleak house will writhe in darkness still.
