Poet for Hire

Why Poetry?

Many people want to understand themselves and the world around them better, and poetry is one way to do that. But not everyone can write a poem with confidence, and some aren’t sure where to start. So if you’d like help turning your idea into a poem, please contact Richard at broughtons@protonmail.com

How Does it Work?

  • Define and develop an idea (5-10 minutes)
  • Wait for the poet to translate it into a poem (flexible format, flexible time-frame)
  • Read the poem, then pay whatever you like (5 minutes)

If you know exactly what you want already, please email broughtons@protonmail.com with the audience, idea, approach (e.g. interpret a photo, a sonnet, etc.) and format (e.g. pdf, paper, audio file).

However, most people want to explore their idea in conversation, and this often leads to the best results. So it’s recommended you contact Richard at broughtons@protonmail.com to book a virtual or in-person meet-up. Alternatively, you can always visit the Brick Lane Bookshop for a walk-in (see section below).

Where & When?

For walk-ins, you can make a trip to Brick Lane Bookshop: 166 Brick Lane, London, E1 6RU. Look for someone with a waistcoat, typewriter and a cup of tea.

Richard does poet for hire most Sundays. You can track his movements via the Poet Forecast below, but it’s worth checking the weather: if it’s forecast rain on Sunday, Richard will try to do Saturday instead. To know for certain, you can always email broughtons@protonmail.com in advance.
